Be the wind
On an infernal day
Caressing me
As the willows sway

Be the moon
On a starlit night
Easing the darkness
Teasing my sight

Be the first few
Drops of rain
The deluge washing
Away all pain

Be my love
Through it all
Be the one to
Break my fall

The hand that hits

The words that hurt

Strength do not

But cowardice assert

The darkness –

A soothing blanket

Your breath, unsteady

An erratic caress

As your fingers roam

Untangling my hair

It all, somehow

Feels like home

I wonder if this wind

Stirring the leaves

Travels to you

On a moonlit eve

If it carries

My scent, mild

I wonder if you

Sense it, smile

The space between

May slowly diminish

As we’re granted

Our forgotten wish

Till then, come share

The stars with me

The only reality

We may together see

There are

People close, walking near

Breathing the same air

Yet, somehow, not really here

Then I have you, far away

In a distant place

Yet, tangible your presence

In this surrounding space

It gets cold in here

Without the warmth

Of your body flowing

Ceaselessly, into me dear

I am barely alive

Every breath a struggle

Every thought

To conjure, I strive

There are people, in scores

Surrounding me

Yet for survival, I need

You, and I shall ask for no more.

As I sit here, with the sun setting low

The pages of my diary, reminiscent of you

I wonder if the smudged words are coming together

Because of my tears, or the evening dew

While you may be in another world, unaware

Finding love in the arms, of a woman new

I may forget the promises you made, the words you spoke

But I will remember, the ripples, in my dead heart they evoked

I may forget the journeys we made, the places we visited

But I will remember, how you took my hand in yours, when we were seated

I may forget the times we fought, parted with bitterness

But I will remember, how gently, later, my face you caressed

I may forget if we ever spoke of an uncertain future, a tomorrow that may not come

But I remember you easing my fears, as in my ear, you whispered those tranquilizing hums

I wish I could and would forget, all at once, let it go

Yet, I keep struggling, attempting, to find a way to do so

The laughter, rings of a sound hollow

The tears refuse to trickle

Impassive, carved in stone

Voices, a monotonous drone

Herds, in numbers large

Throttling me

Slowly but surely, closing in

What is this life, if not a mortal sin?

There were stars twinkling that night
Some dim, others shining bright
The wind blew carelessly, free
The faint outlines of the moon, I could see
You spoke words, earnest, full of promise
I could taste your breath, in that fleeting kiss
And then you disappeared, into the dark
Leaving behind, an imperishable mark
I raised my hand, but let it fall
My voice drowned out, before I could call
It was best to let you walk away, after these moments intimate
Than prolong elusive fancies, till the love turned to hate
